After graduation from the prestigious University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts, Danvic Briones headed his own design studio. A painting major in college, his art took a backseat to computer graphic design, which was in high demand in the Philippines. However, after a series of successful exhibits in New York, San Diego and Los Angeles, he rediscovered his art and his desire to create masterpieces.
Briones' art draw onlookers and binds them in an ancient rhythmic spell. An eclectic mix of the sun, the moon and the stars are often the main characters of his canvas. A technique using woodcuts, acrylic, water color, special paper, found objects, varnish and oil paint gives his works an impression of old-worldliness, while being fun, mystic, ambiguous and soul searing at the same time.
Briones' oils, on the other hand, give an impression of vitality, the brush strokes and the vivid colors stoking an enamored audience.
